Product Details
Ethyl acetoacetate is a key raw material in organic synthesis, playing a critical role in the production of various chemicals. In pesticide manufacturing, it serves as a precursor for several important intermediates, including α-chloroethyl acetoacetate used in the synthesis of the organophosphorus insecticide coumaphos, and 2-methoxy-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine, an intermediate for the insecticide pyrimidinoxam. It is also used in the production of other insecticides such as diazinon and pirimicarb, as well as fungicides like oxazolidinone.
Additionally, ethyl acetoacetate is involved in the synthesis of herbicides, including imipenem, and rodenticides such as coumarin and warfarin. The compound is also crucial for the production of newer fungicides like cyprodinil, diflumetorim, furametpyr, and the plant growth regulator cintofen. Beyond agriculture, ethyl acetoacetate finds applications across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, plastics, dyes, fragrances, varnishes, and additives.
