Octanoic acid finds applications in specialty industrial and agricultural formulations.
For wheat spider control preparations, n-octanoic acid acts as a synergistic ingredient alongside trimethylolpropane ester, with a total additive dosage of 7–9 parts. The optimal weight ratio of trimethylolpropane ester to n-octanoic acid is 6–8:1, which delivers superior pest-control efficacy. This blend can be further processed into dedicated pesticide products targeting wheat spiders.
In anticorrosion and antirust fluids, n-octanoic acid is compounded with boric acid as a synergistic component, also at a total dosage of 7–9 parts. The preferred weight ratio of boric acid to n-octanoic acid is 6–8:1; formulations within this ratio range exhibit outstanding rust-proofing and anticorrosive properties, achieving peak performance.
