Dodecenylsuccinic anhydride (also referred to as dodecyl succinic anhydride or DDSA) is a biochemical reagent applicable as a biomaterial or organic compound for life-science research. It has a molecular weight of 266.38 and is available in two structural forms: linear (LDDSA) and branched (BDDSA).
Linear dodecenylsuccinic anhydride (LDDSA) serves as an epoxy resin curing agent, featuring long pot life, low irritation and excellent performance of cured products. It is a pale-yellow, transparent, oily and viscous liquid with a relative density of 1.00.
Dodecenylsuccinic anhydride (mixture of isomers) acts as a click-chemistry reagent. Containing an alkyne group, it can participate in copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions with azide-bearing molecules.
