Product Details

Polypropylene (PP) is a high-molecular-weight polymer synthesized from propylene monomers. Based on polymerization techniques, its manufacturing is classified into five major processes: solution polymerization, slurry polymerization, bulk polymerization, gas-phase polymerization, and integrated bulk-gas-phase polymerization. Structurally, PP is mainly categorized into isotactic, syndiotactic, and atactic types. Isotactic polypropylene is the most widely adopted grade, occupying over 90% of total application markets.

Atactic polypropylene is well-suited for additives, adhesives and modifiers. Thanks to its high viscosity, favorable flow behavior and excellent coating capability, it functions as an efficient carrier for modified masterbatches. Syndiotactic polypropylene features high transparency, toughness and flexibility, while its stiffness and hardness are approximately half those of isotactic PP. It can be vulcanized in a manner similar to ethylene-propylene rubber, yielding elastomers with mechanical performance superior to traditional rubber materials.

Despite constraints on large-scale commercialization caused by its relatively high production cost, syndiotactic polypropylene exhibits great development potential. It is regarded as a hig-growth emerging segment within polypropylene resins and an innovative synthetic material for advanced polymer modification applications.
