Disperse Blue 79 (trade name: Disperse Deep Blue S-3BG) is a high-temperature disperse dye primarily used for dyeing polyester and its blended fabrics to achieve deep blue and navy blue shades.

Key applications include:

1. Dyeing of polyester and polyester blends (primary application)

(1) Polyester dyeing: Produces deep blue and navy blue shades. It is a high-temperature disperse dye with high sublimation fastness.

(2) Polyester blended fabrics: Suitable for dyeing blends such as polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose. It is used in combination with Disperse Yellow-Brown H2RL and Disperse Rubine H2GFL to produce medium-to-deep shades.

(3) Polyester fabric printing: Suitable for direct printing; offers uniform color and withstands dry-heat setting processes.

2. Triacetate fiber dyeing

Suitability: Can be used for dyeing triacetate fibers.

Unsuitability: Not suitable for dyeing diacetate fibers.

3. Trichromatic color mixing system

Combination: Disperse Blue 79 + Disperse Yellow-Brown H2RL + Disperse Rubine H2GFL. Used to produce a wide range of medium-to-deep shades.

As one of the three primary colors, it can be flexibly combined with other disperse dyes to meet diverse color requirements.

Applicable dyeing methods:

1. High-temperature, high-pressure (HTHP) dyeing: 130–150°C; Disperse Blue 79 is a high-temperature dye.

2. Thermosol pad-dyeing: 180–220°C with 90-second fixation; suitable for polyester/cotton blends.

3. Carrier dyeing: Atmospheric boiling dyeing; requires the addition of a carrier (e.g., methyl salicylate).

Process selection: HTHP dyeing is a common process for polyester fibers; higher temperatures accelerate dye diffusion, facilitating the dye's penetration into the fiber interior.
