Product Details
Dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder or crystal. In its pure form, it is a colorless crystal that readily absorbs moisture when exposed to air. It dissolves easily in water, forming a transparent solution. The resulting aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, with a pH ranging from approximately 8 to 9, due to the hydrolysis of the quaternary ammonium salt.

Product Application
(1-Dodecyl)trimethylammonium bromide is used as a surfactant, an emulsifier for rubber and asphalt, and an antistatic agent for synthetic fibers. As an ionic surfactant, it is also effective in preparing gold nanoparticles when combined with sodium dodecyl sulfate. Additionally, it is used in paint strippers and as a foaming stabilizer. It plays a role in the synthesis of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide and is employed in studies of micelle formation in water-dimethylsulfoxide mixtures using conductimetry, density measurements, and small-angle neutron scattering. Moreover, it serves as a valuable biochemical tool for proteomics research.
