Fipronil is a white powder that emits a moldy odor. It is poorly soluble in water and acts as a slow-acting poison. It has a low affinity for binding with soil, and the half-life of its metabolite, fipronil-sulphone, is 34 days. As a broad-spectrum insecticide, it belongs to the phenylpyrazole class.
